Blood is Screened / Tested for all donors

Blood is normally Screened/Tested for all donors to esure that the health of the patients who are receiving is safeguarded. This is very critical is cases like blood collected for children with Thalassemia.

Normal the tests/screening includes

• Hepatitis B – HBsAg

Human immunodeficiency virus – anti-HIV 1 and 2 and HIV NAT (nucleic acid testing)

• Hepatitis C – anti-HCV and HCV NAT
• Human T-cell lymphotropic virus – anti-HTLV I and II
• Syphilis – syphilis antibodies.



Health background incl. medications, any aliments and procedures are also checked and reviewed during the blood donation procedures.

So here the blood donors get a free blood donation while donating blood. The donors are alerted if there is any problem with the donated by the blood collection agency / blood bank.
